City-wide Garage Sale

Load up on bargains at the City of Coquitlam’s fall city-wide garage sale and giveaway, which takes place today and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. To see what homes are taking part, visit the municipality's website.

Bottle Drive

Help the 1st PoCo Scouts with their bottle drive. Drop off your empties at Kilmer Elementary (1575 Knappen St. Port Coquitlam) between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for the fundraiser. You can also email the organization for pick-up.

Mid-autumn Moon

Visit Heritage Square (1116 Brunette Ave.) between noon and 3 p.m. for Coquitlam Heritage’s Mid-autumn Moon Family Day. Learn about mooncakes, have your face painted and see the performances from Uzume Taiko, a lion dance by the Shao Lin Hung Gar Lion Dance Team and a show by the Chinese Music Ensemble. The party is free and fun for all ages. No registration is required.

Lax Exhibit

Check out the new exhibit at PoCo Heritage Museum and Archives (150-2248 McAllister Ave.) that celebrates the city’s lacrosse success. The launch from 1 to 2:30 p.m. centres on the display that highlights the city’s field lacrosse games of the 1910s, as well as the first PoCo women’s box team of the 1970s. The speakers include the captain of the first PoCo Women’s box lax team and Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Famer Michelle Bowyer. Admission is free; however, an e-ticket is encouraged.

Make Art

Celebrate Culture Days across the country by making art in a Port Coquitlam studio with the family. Explore materials with an instructor and get creative in The Outlet at Leigh Square (2248-2250 McAllister Ave.) from 2 to 4 p.m.

Dinner and Dance

Take your partner to the Royal Canadian Legion branch in Port Coquitlam (2675 Shaughnessy St.) for its monthly dinner and dance. The band Long Run will hit the stage at 7 p.m. Membership is not required; however, there is a $2 drop-in fee.

Cheer on the Coquitlam Express as the hockey team plays a regular season game against Surrey at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St.) at 7 p.m.

Tribute Act

Enjoy the tunes from Fleetwood Magic, a Fleetwood Mac tribute band that returns to Port Moody's Inlet Theatre (100 Newport Dr.) for a show at 7:30 p.m. The ensemble is headed up by Diane Warren, who portrays lead singer Stevie Nicks. Tickets are $53.

Puck Drop

Don your hockey jersey to support the Port Moody Panthers as they take on the Grandview Steelers at the Port Moody Recreation Complex (300 Ioco Rd.). The puck drops at 7:45 p.m.

Salsa Night

Slip on your dancing shoes for the Latin dance night with the Salsa Dance Zone featuring Alberto Gonzalez and Teresa Szefler. The party is from 8 p.m. to midnight at Site B Brewing and Community Hub in Port Moody (3012 Murray St.). Admission is $15 and is suitable for ages 19 and older. A dance lesson for beginners is from 8 to 9 p.m.
