Watercolour Battle

Join the PoCo Arts Council at Taylight Brewing (402-1485 Coast Meridian Rd., Port Coquitlam) for a Watercolour Battle fundraiser featuring artists ZhiGang Zhu, Coral Ye Chen, Danni Liu, Natalia Outkina, Ingrid Lefevre, NB Gurung and Ting Zhao. The event is from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Crossroads Music

Pull up a chair at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave., Port Coquitlam) to hear tunes in aid of the Crossroads Hospice Society in the Tri-Cities. Willoughby Ridge, a four-piece acoustic string band that plays an eclectic mix of traditional and modern music, opens the show at 7:30 p.m. At 8:45 a.m., Caden Knudson hits the stage for a solo performance. Admission is $10 at the door (cash only).

Movie Night

Settle in at the Inlet Theatre in Port Moody (100 Newport Dr.) to watch the flick Another Round, a presentation by the Port Moody Film Society. The movie at 7:30 p.m. follows four Danish schoolteachers who hope daily drinking will cure their midlife slumps. The 2020 film won the Best Foreign Language Oscar. Admission is $5 (cash or cheque) with a $5 annual society membership.

Legion Tunes

Get your dancing shoes on to boogie to the tunes from Sweet Max, which will play the Royal Canadian Legion in Coquitlam (1025 Ridgeway Ave.) starting at 7 p.m. There is a cover charge for non-members on Friday night, but not Saturday.

Home Ice

Pull on your Coquitlam Express jersey and cheer the hometown hockey team as it battles Surrey at 7 p.m. at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St., Coquitlam).

Home Field

If you're a fan of high school football, there's a doubleheader at the new turf field at Centennial Secondary School in Coquitlam (570 Poirier St.). At 4 p.m., Port Coquitlam's Terry Fox Ravens, who've been displaced by renovations at the team's usual home field at Percy Perry Stadium, host Seaquam. Fox is looking for its first win of the regular season, while the Seahawks have a win and a loss. Then, at 7 p.m., Centennial will play Burnaby's St. Thomas More. The Centaurs lost to Seaquam 34-18 last Friday after opening the regular season with a win over Belmont. The Knights are also 1-1.

Heart Fame

Ann Wilson of the legendary band Heart joins Tripsitter for a show at the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver (2080 United Blvd., Coquitlam) at 8 p.m. Tickets are via Ticketmaster.ca.
