Fishing derby
Join Festival Coquitlam and the Port Coquitlam & District Hunting and Fishing Club for the Como Lake Fishing Derby, a free event for youth under 16 from 6 a.m. to noon that includes prizes for the largest, smallest and strangest catches. The Kinsmen Club will serve a pancake breakfast (for a charge). Bring your own fishing rod and bait.

The Coquitlam Farmers Market is back in the parking lot of Dogwood Pavilion (1655 Winslow Ave., Coquitlam) on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Grab your fabric grocery bags, shop for local produce and chat with the vendors.

City-wide garage sale
Hunt for second-hand treasures during the City of Coquitlam’s spring city-wide garage sale and giveaway event, on from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. To find out the participating households, visit the city website. As well, the spring clean-up sale is on at Spirit Square (south of Coquitlam City Hall) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Accessibility fair
Find out about the City of Coquitlam’s accessible programs at a fair happening from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pinetree Community Centre (1260 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam). The free event is on during National AccessAbility Week.

Walk for Alzheimers
Sport your running shoes for the annual IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimers — Canada’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. The event is at Town Centre Park (1299 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam) from 10 a.m. to noon.

Tree tour
Find out about the world-class arboretum at səmiq̓ʷəʔelə/Riverview Hospital during a guided tree tour of part of the grounds off Lougheed Highway in Coquitlam. Meet at 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Henry Esson Young building. The walk is free and no registration is required.

Jukebox Saturday
Dogwood Songsters and Mix Bag Band presents Jukebox Saturday Night: Music of the 50s and 60s, at the Dogwood Pavilion (1655 Winslow Ave., Coquitlam) from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the Dogwood gift shop or from choir members.

The Polonez Tri-City Polish Association is back with its 17th annual BC Polish Fest at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave.). Catch the live entertainment and tuck into the pierogies and other fare on sale.
