Bookfest 2024
Calling readers and writers! The Tri-City Wordsmiths presents its book festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam). Workshops for children’s sessions are 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. while writers’ sessions are 1 to 4 p.m. There will also be blue pencil sessions, a book fair and market hall.

Legion tunes
Dance to the music from Under Fire at the Royal Canadian Legion (1025 Ridgeway Ave., Coquitlam). The band will be on the stage from 7 to 10 p.m. to entertain.

Folk music
See Tiller’s Folly perform its Celtic and Canadiana tunes at the Inlet Theatre in Port Moody City Hall (100 Newport Dr., Port Moody) at 7:30 p.m. The concert is part of the Inlet Theatre Music Series. Tickets are $35 in advance or $45 at the door, if available.

Salsa night
Learn the basic dance steps to Salsa — and dance the night away — with instructors Alberto Gonzalez and Teresa Szefler of the Salsa Dance Zone. Tonight’s lesson starts at 8 p.m. at Site B (3012 Murray St., Port Moody), with the dance floor opening at 9 p.m. Admission is $15 and the event is open to ages 19 and up.
