Here's what's on in the Tri-Cities for Saturday, June 29, 2024: 


 

Firefighters flapjacks

Bring your family and your appetite for the Port Moody firefighters 47th annual pancake breakfast, a fundraiser for Tri-City charities including the Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation, SHARE and Crossroads Hospice. The feast runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Inlet Centre fire hall (150 Newport Dr., Port Moody).

Golden Spike

After the breakfast, head over to Rocky Point Park (2800-block of Murray Street, Port Moody) for some entertainment and meals at the 47th annual Golden Spike Days Festival. Hosted by the volunteer Golden Spike Days Society, the all-ages celebration of the last CP Rail spike in Port Moody runs all weekend: Today and June 30 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and July 1 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is by donation.

Legion music

Dance to the music of Vinyl, which plays at the Coquitlam branch of the Royal Canadian Legion (1025 Ridgeway Ave.) from 7 to 11 p.m.

Violin magic

Violin virtuoso Royce Rich plays classical and contemporary pieces with pianist Joseph Stacy at the Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam) at 8 p.m. as part of the facility’s Rehearsal Hall Sessions.

Salsa dancing

Grab your friends for the Salsa Dance Zone’s Salsa and Latin dance night at the Port Moody branch of the Royal Canadian Legion (2529 Clarke St., Port Moody) where instructors Alberto Gonzalez and Teresa Szefler will lead a beginners dance class from 8 to 9 p.m. before opening up the dance floor until midnight. Admission to the 19+ event is $15 at the door.
