Softball provincials
Coquitlam Moody Softball hosts U17B teams for the provincial championships, running from July 19 to 21 at Mundy Park in Coquitlam. Players are coming in from around Metro Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Prince George and West Kootenays.

Police, fire trucks
As part of the annual Coquitlam RCMP Junior Mountie Police Academy, emergency personnel will show their vehicles and gear for a public show and shine. Held at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St.), the drop-in event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes exhibitions from the RCMP, Coquitlam Fire/Rescue, Coquitlam Search and Rescue, BC Ambulance Service and CrimeStoppers. There is no cost to attend.

RibFest 2024
Bring your appetite to Rocky Point Park in Port Moody (2800-block of Murray Street) for the annual RibFest, a three-day feast organized by the Rotary Club of Port Moody. The grills will be fired up from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day. Entrance is by donation. Non-service dogs, off-site beverages and day tents are not permitted. The Tri-City News is a media sponsor. Volunteers are sought.

Legion music
Dance to the music of the Brian Zalo Mix, which plays at the Coquitlam branch of the Royal Canadian Legion (1025 Ridgeway Ave.) from 7 to 11 p.m.

Summer concert
The City of Coquitlam returns with its Summer Concert Series at Town Centre Park (1299 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam). From 7 to 9 p.m., the Big Easy Funk Ensemble performs two 45-minute sets at the amphitheatre. Formed in East Van, the band pays tribute to New Orleans while infusing its own West Coast style.
