Youth Summit

Tri-City teens out for Pro-D Day can join the Port Moody Mayor’s Youth Summit, on from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at Inlet Theatre inside Port Moody City Hall (100 Newport Dr.) to talk about topics like climate justice, mental health and wellness, social connectedness and youth spaces. Students can get seven hours of volunteer time for high school credit. There is no cost to attend. The event is open to youth ages 12 to 18.

Pride story time

Families with young children — from newborns to age eight, can dress up in Halloween costumes for Pro-D Day and hear a Pride story time. Hosted by the Coquitlam Public Library, the story time takes place at the Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam) from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Afterward, check out the LGBTQ+ youth committee's event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Studio B. Titled Pride and Prose: Exploring queer stories for all ages, it is geared to all ages.

ACE poetry night

Celebrate Asexual Awareness Week with a poetry gathering and writing jam at Mackin House (1116 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam). The event at 7 p.m. is open to people who identify as part of the asexual community: asexual, demisexual, greysexual, aceflux and questioning. There is no cost; however, registration with the Coquitlam Heritage Society is encouraged.

Circus time

Circo Osorio returns with its big top to the Coquitlam Centre mall (2929 Barnet Hwy.) for family-friendly shows until Oct. 28. The tent is located kitty corner to H&M.

Legion dance

Hear live music from the band Sweet Max at the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 263, in Coquitlam (1025 Ridgeway Ave.) from 7 to 10 p.m.

Art show, sale

Members of the Art Focus Artists Association show and sell their work at their fall exhibit, which starts with an opening reception tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. in The Outlet at Leigh Square (east of Port Coquitlam City Hall).

Hockey action

Cheer on the Port Coquitlam Trailblazers at 7 p.m. as they face the White Rock Whalers on home ice at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave.).

Coffeehouse tunes

It’s the 25th year of the Crossroads Coffeehouse, a fundraiser for the Crossroads Hospice Society. The 7:30 p.m. music show takes place in the Gathering Place at Leigh Square (1100-2253 Leigh Sq., next to Port Coquitlam City Hall) with Caden Knudson and All In Good Time Band performing. Admission is $10 cash at the door.

Opening Night

Stage 43 opens its 2024–25 season with Opening Night, a comedy by Norm Foster, at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam (1205 Pinetree Way). The play at 7:30 p.m. is directed by Tiffany Markwart. Tickets are $30/$25.
