Election day

If you haven’t cast your ballot early for the provincial election, today is the official voting day. To find out who is running for an MLA seat in one of the Tri-Cities’ five ridings, go to the Tri-City News’ website, click on the tab "News" and view "BC Votes 2024."

Online fundraiser

Bidding starts at 9 a.m. for the Place des Arts’ online auction. Now in its eighth year, the fundraiser aims to bring in $10,000 to subsidize arts education for families in need, as well as facility equipment.

Halloween howl

Families with kids ages 10 and under can dress up in costumes for the City of Port Coquitlam’s Halloween Howl at the Hyde Creek Recreation Centre (1379 Laurier Ave., Port Coquitlam). The afternoon event includes pumpkin bowling, fortune telling and a haunted house. The cost is $2 per person for the Spooky Swim, $6 for the carnival and haunted house and $2 for accompanying adults.

GloFest

GloFest, a celebration at Camp Howdy with 100,000 lights, a five-course organic dinner and glowing forests, starts tonight at the Belcarra facility (3000 Camp Howdy Rd.); it ends Nov. 3. Admission is $30.

Legion dance

Hear live music from the band Whiskey Bent at the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 263, in Coquitlam (1025 Ridgeway Ave.) from 7 to 10 p.m.

Opening Night

Stage 43 opens its 2024–25 season with Opening Night, a comedy by Norm Foster, at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam (1205 Pinetree Way). The play at 7:30 p.m. is directed by Tiffany Markwart. Tickets are $30/$25.

Brasileira Quartet

One of the best jazz vocal improvisers in Canada will be in Port Moody for the third season of the Inlet Theatre Music Series. Jennifer Scott and her band will be at the Inlet Theatre inside Port Moody City Hall (100 Newport Dr.) for a show at 7:30 p.m.

Salsa night

Join the Salsa Dance Zone as it hosts a dance class at 8 p.m., followed by a dance party until midnight, at the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 133, in Port Coquitlam (2675 Shaughnessy St.). The event is for ages 19 and up. Admission is $15 at the door.
