Winter market

It’s the opening of the Winter Farmers Market, held in the parking lot next to the Port Moody Recreation Complex (300 Ioco Rd.) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Talk to the vendors, shop for local produce and wares and enjoy the entertainment. The market is organized by the Grow Local Society.

Pumpkin smash

The Port Moody Firefighters Charitable Society is back with its charity fundraiser: Pumpkin Smash. Bring your Halloween jack-o-lantern to the Inlet Centre fire hall (150 Newport Dr., Port Moody) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to see it destroyed. The suggested donation is $5 per pumpkin.

Check out the original art by members of the Port Moody Art Association at their 55th annual “Art To Go” show and sale, happening from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Port Moody Recreation Complex (300 Ioco Rd.).

Swifties alert

If you’re going to one of Taylor Swift’s concerts in Vancouver this December, you can get your groove on early at a Port Moody Public Library party. The Galleria at Port Moody City Hall (100 Newport Dr.) will be filled with Taylor lovers from noon to 1:30 p.m. for the library bash. The all-ages event includes photo booths, a make and exchange friendship bracelet station and a dance floor. Dress up in your favourite Eras tour costume.

Typewriter takeover

Painter Dave Benning of Old School Typewriters and his vintage machines will be at Brave Brewing Co. in Port Moody (2617 Murray St.) from noon to 3 p.m. Families and guests can type a love letter, poem or note.

Wind music

Go on a Magical Musical Mystery Tour with the Pacific Symphonic Wind Ensemble (PWSE), which calls Evergreen Culture Centre home. Directed by David Branter, the show at the Coquitlam facility (1205 Pinetree Way) is at 3 p.m. Tickets are $30/$20/$12.
