National Ringette League

Come and see the BC Thunder take on the top western teams of the National Ringette League — Alberta Black Gold Rush, Saskatchewan Heat and Manitoba Herd — in the Tri-Cities this weekend. The action is at Jon Baillie Arena in Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave.) at 9:30 a.m. and 4:45 p.m.

Winter market

Shop for crafts made by the Glen Pine Crafters and other artisans at the winter market, on from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Glen Pine Pavilion (1200 Glen Pine Crt., Coquitlam). Admission is free.

Riverside yule

Students, parents and staff at Riverside Secondary in Port Coquitlam (2215 Reeve St.) host the school’s annual winter market from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 125 vendors will be on site. Admission is $3 with proceeds donated to the 2025 after-grad celebrations.

Checkmate

Test your chess skills against a new opponent at the Chess Club, on from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Nancy Bennett Room at the Poirier branch of the Coquitlam Public Library (575 Poirier St.). The event is open to all ages.

ROOF

Lucas Myers performs in a one-person show he wrote called ROOF, a comedy about confronting personal shortcomings. The play starts at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam (1205 Pinetree Way). Tickets are $47/$40/$16.

HollyDaze

The Austin Heights Business Improvement Association (BIA) will close the 1000-block of Ridgeway Avenue in Coquitlam — from Nelson to Marmont streets — from 4 to 9 p.m. for HollyDaze in the Heights. The outdoor family festival includes shopping, live music, kids activities and food to get into the holiday spirit. Take public transit or park at Blue Mountain Church, Blue Mountain Park or side streets.

Treasures of Christmas

Slip on your holiday suit to support the annual Treasures of Christmas, the signature fundraiser for the Crossroads Hospice Society. The gala at The Show Theatre at the Great Canadian Casino Vancouver (2080 United Blvd., Coquitlam) is from 6 to 10 p.m. and includes a diamond raffle, silent auction and entertainment, as well as a buffet dinner. Proceeds support hospice care at the Port Moody facility and grief support programs.
