Volunteer recognition
Today is the last day to nominate an outstanding volunteer in the City of Port Coquitlam for an award. Since 1997, the municipality has shone a spotlight on hundreds of individuals, of which 145 volunteers winning accolades for their exceptional work. The categories are Volunteer of the Year, Sports and Recreation, Youth and Lifetime Volunteer.

Seniors Safe-Tea
Seniors in the Tri-Cities can hear from the Coquitlam RCMP about how to stay safe. The presentation from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave.) will cover topics like fraud, scams and elder abuse. Coffee, tea and cookies will be provided to participants.

Learn about the history of activism pins and create your own at Mackin House (1116 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam). Organized by Coquitlam Heritage, the MashUp event is a drop-in on Thursday and Friday at the house.

Oscar Wilde
The Importance of Being Earnest, a play penned by British writer Oscar Wilde in 1895, is the 2025 offering from students at Archbishop Carney Regional High School in Port Coquitlam. The show is directed by drama teacher Charles Harris and runs at the Terry Fox Theatre (1260 Riverwood Gate, Port Coquitlam) at 7 p.m. Tickets are $18.

Comedy queens
Jane Stanton, Brittany Lyseng, Cassidy Furman and Niki Mohrdar deliver laughs before International Women’s Day, March 8, in their show Queens of Comedy at the Inlet Theatre (inside Port Moody City Hall, 100 Newport Dr.) at 7 p.m. The event is suitable for ages 15 and older.
