Coquitlam Coun. Teri Towner is running for re-election.

A two-term city councillor will defend her seat in the upcoming civic election in Coquitlam.

Coun. Teri Towner announced this week she’s seeking another four years at the council table.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Towner ran all of Coquitlam’s streets and reported areas for improvement to city staff.

In a press release, she said she learned a lot about the municipality, which furthered her passion for her hometown.

As well, she became an Uber and Lyft driver after advancing a motion at city council calling for ride–sharing around the province. Her motion to limit vehicles from idling more than three minutes also became a bylaw, and her motion for publicly accessible AEDs was successful.

Towner checks off the Housing Affordability Strategy and the Environmental Sustainability Plan as council accomplishments during the past term.

If re-elected, Towner pledges to keep property taxes low.

Currently, she chairs the city’s Sustainability & Environmental Advisory Committee and is vice-chair of the Community Safety Advisory Committee. In the community, she served on PAC and DPAC, and operates the Tri-Cities Friends of Refugees Society.

“I am always out in the community, listening to people who also love this city,” she stated in her press release. “I want Coquitlam to continue to be a great place to live and raise our children, and I look forward to connecting with residents on the doorsteps this campaign.”
