Port Moody's "Brewer's Row" will be added to the BC Ale Trail initiative, a province-wide program aimed at highlighting craft breweries as a tourism destination under the banner "Arrive Thirsty, Leave Inspired."
Led by Sunshine Coast Tourism, the program partners with cities, tourism organizations and the craft brew industry to foster relationships between breweries and other tourism-related businesses, increase tourism and local economic development.
The program will develop local "Ale Trail" tours for each participating region as well as videos, online promotional tools and a web-based marketing platform to showcase the craft beer scene and surrounding businesses and attractions.
Port Moody will contribute $9,000 to the initiative (the four PoMo breweries are pitching in $1,000 to meet the city's $10,000 target); the province is kicking in half of the overall $140,000 cost.
PoMo's portion will be used to develop locally specific content for the video, website and other marketing tools.
