A trio of B.C. titles solidified a successful provincial championship weekend for Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club (CMFSC).
Three of its 12 participating teams walked off the Richmond pitch with the Premier Cup — B.C.'s highest trophy to win in club soccer.
"We are proud of all our teams that represented us in Provincial Cup play and would like to wish our two graduating U18 teams all the best in their future as many continue onto University and adult player opportunities in September," said BCSPL spokesperson Dale Mitchell in a statement to the Tri-City News.
This included CMFSC's under-14 girls squad, whom, in remarkable fashion, completed a perfect regular season at 11-0-0 en route to the divisional crown.
Elena Stalone scored the game-winning goal for the black, white and blue to defeat Mountain United FC (Burnaby) 1-0 at Minoru Park on Sunday (June 26).
On the boys side, the under-18 team survived the Vancouver Island Wave and vaulted to a 2-1 Premier Cup final victory.
University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) commit Mateo Brazinha and teammate Luca Di Francesco potted the goals for CMFSC.
The team finished the 2021-22 campaign atop the standings with a record of 9-2-1.
And another CMFSC club will be off to the Maritimes in the fall to represent B.C. on the national stage.
The under-15 boys roster powered through to beat Fusion FC and claim their respective title over the weekend.
Joaquim Dharamsi booted his way past the provincial host's defence to find the back of the net twice and help his team take gold, also by a score of 2-1.
The team rallied to win it all after a fourth-place regular-season finish with a 4-5-2 record.
CMFSC's triumph resulted in a ticket booked for Charlottetown, P.E.I., for the chance to compete in the 2022 Canadian national club soccer championships.
The U-15 Cup tournament is set for Thanksgiving long weekend, Oct. 5 to 10.
Meanwhile, two other Coquitlam club soccer teams settled for silver at the provincial championships:
- Under-18 girls
- Under-14 boys
