Casa Del Pane bakery in Port Moody is bringing back its beloved doughnuts, which have been absent from its offerings since an extended closure because of a flood.

Port Moody doughnut lovers will soon have another option to satisfy their sweet tooth.

Or rather, the return of an old favourite.

Casa Del Pane Italian bakery in NewPort Village is bringing back its doughy confections.

In a post on its Instagram page, the bakery said, “The time has almost come. The beloved Casa donuts are almost back.”

And while Casa Del Pane didn’t specify an exact date when its doughnuts will again have their place alongside its already extensive lineup of decadent pastries like cannoli, vanilla slice and lemon pistachio mousse, along with its assortment of cakes, cookies and breads, customers are already expressing their anticipatory delight.

“I’m ready,” said one.

“We can’t wait,” said another.

Doughnuts have been absent from the refrigerated displays at Casa Del Pane since it was forced to close for several months following a flood in April 2023.

The bakery, which has occupied a prime location in the heart of NewPort Village and the bellies of residents for more than 30 years, reopened in February.

In the meantime, though, competition for the favour of Port Moody’s doughnut fans has heated up with the opening of Sweet Talk Donuts in January.

The new dessert destination on Moody Street, which recently expanded its offerings to include breakfast sandwiches, is the passion project of restaurateurs Scott McTavish and Juan Perello, who also operate Taps & Tacos right next door.
