A popular Port Coquitlam pizzeria is expanding west to Port Moody.

Emilio Finatti Pizzeria has announced it will be opening its fourth location at 2818 St. Johns St., taking over the former the Pizza Station.

The Sicilian pizzeria, known for its thin, low-gluten crust made from Organic Alberta winter wheat, opened its first location in White Rock 2005.

In 2014, founder Aaron Gehrman finished third in the traditional pizza category at an international competition in Las Vegas. The next year, his traditional pepperoni pie finished first, and third in the overall competition.

Earlier this year, Emilio Finatti’s Langley location ranked eighth among Yelp Canada’s top 25 pizzerias in Canada.

Emilio Finatti’s Port Coquitlam pizzeria at 551 Sherling Pl. in the Fremont business park opened in 2021.

Its proximity to the adjacent Traboulay PoCo Trail has made it a favoured pitstop for hikers and bikers enjoying a day on the dikes. Customers also love the little cartoons of thanks drawn onto the boxes by its pizzaiolos.

The Port Coquitlam location is company’s only dine-in eatery and it's also its headquarters, where it tests new recipes and kitchen procedures.

Earlier in March, Emilio Finatti was recognized as Port Coquitlam’s top small business of the year at the city’s eighth annual Best Biz Awards.

Emilio Finatti’s pizza lineup ranges from a classic cup and char pepperoni to a Patate Italiano with Genoa salami and thin slices of rosemary potato to a pesto shrimp along with a lineup of vegetarian pies like the Moro Orange that’s topped with pear and onion balsamic, roasted beets and juicy orange segments. It also has gluten free options

As well, the restaurant offers appetizers like meatballs and garlic flatbread as well as a selection of salads.

Emilio Finatti’s Port Moody take-out and delivery location is expected to open next month. It will be joined later in the spring by a new brick and mortar location on Murray Street for the Mama Said Pizza Co. that's been forging its reputation around Metro Vancouver with its popular mobile pizzeria.

As well, Spacca Napoli has been pleasing pizza palates at the corner of St. Johns and Moody streets since 2016.
