Perhaps the name says it all.
Awesome Sushi is Port Coquitlam's newest restaurant located in Montrose Square, next to the Port Coquitlam Community Centre, where a lot of other shops and eateries are also opening up.
Launched with a soft opening on Monday (Sept. 12) at #4150-2180 Kelly Ave., the restaurant owned by Paul Cho looks to add some fresh tastes along with other new eateries and shops in Montrose Square.
For short-term parking, there is free parking in the community centre, entrance off of Mary Hill Road. It's also within walking distance of many condos in the area.
Calling itself "a local to-go sushi restaurant located in the heart of Port Coquitlam," Awesome Sushi serves Korean and Japanese cuisine.
A number of local residents have already tried the place and pronounced it good.
However, due to ongoing construction hours have been temporarily altered, according to the website and a recent Instagram post.
The soft opening phases will continue into the second week, said a spokesperson, and will be from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays."
For updates on hours, visit the restaurant's web page and Facebook page.
The menu offers a wide variety of appetizers, maki, sushi rolls, donburi, nigiri, sashimi and combination plates. Plans are to add tempura, noodles, teriyaki and even Korean-style fried chicken.
With the new sushi restaurant, Montrose Square now can add Asian cuisine to a food line-up that already includes gluten-free baked goods at Delish Caffé and Sunfire Pizza.
