Port Moody police (PMPD) are hoping the public can help identify the lone suspect in a "brazen" theft of thousands of dollars in merchandise from a large retail business earlier this month.
The theft took place in the city's Moody Centre area around 9 p.m. on Jan. 15.
A man allegedly concealed numerous products while he was inside the store, then fled when he was confronted by staff.
PMPD spokesperson Const. Sam Zacharias said efforts to find the suspect have since come up short.
"We are taking the uncommon step of asking the public to assist us in this investigation given the substantial and brazen nature of this theft," he said.
"It was not violent but witnessed by multiple staff who confronted the suspect who allegedly continued on with stealing the merchandise and fleeing," Zacharias added when asked by the Tri-City News for more details.
The suspect is described as:
- White
- Mid-20s
- Short brown hair
- Some facial hair
- Last seen wearing....
- Glasses
- Black jacket
- Dark sweatpants
Anyone with more information about the incident is encouraged to call PMPD at 604-461-3456 and quote file-number 2023-256.
