In an email to the Record, Surrey RCMP confirmed that the drugs were seized in August 2023.
“The lab results take time, and the investigation was still ongoing,” said Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha, media relations officer for the Surrey RCMP.
To protect the integrity of the investigation, Sangha could not provide a breakdown of what drugs were seized at each of the two locations.
At the time of the searches, police arrested one person, who was then released pending further investigation.
“The suspect was arrested near the New Westminster residence,” Sangha said in an email to the Record.
In an Oct. 4, 2024 news release, Surrey RCMP said officers are preparing a report to Crown counsel for consideration of charges. The investigation is ongoing.
“Investigations such as this are often helped by information from concerned community members. We ask that public continue to be our eyes and ears to help disrupt drug trafficking operations in their neighbourhoods,” Sangha said in the news release. “We remain committed to targeting individuals who are involved in selling illicit drugs.”
