Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Tri-Cities as a ridge of high pressure building over souther B.C. is forecast to trigger a spell of hot weather.
Temperatures are predicted to peak Sunday, Aug. 16, with daily maximum temperatures climbing into the mid-30s inland. Temperatures in Coquitlam will feel like 38 C, according to the Weather Network, hotter than the last heat wave to hit the Lower Mainland in late July.

Overnight, temperatures are expected to remain in the high teens.
Environment Canada advised that a further heat warning may be issued for the Lower Mainland on Sunday, Aug. 15, once it can gauge how effective a weak inflow from the Pacific will moderate inland temperatures.
