A special passport that explores regional businesses and offers incentives has returned to the Tri-Cities for the benefit of colon cancer research.
The Goutsisson Family Foundation has brought back its Tour of the Tri-Cities for a second year following a successful first installment in 2020.
The event raised more than $7,000 last year, and 2021 is set to provide some extra awareness and meaning.
The non-profit organization says the tour is being dedicated in honour of Ric Sisson.
He was a well-known environmental advocate in Port Moody, as well as a Coquitlam businessman with a 55-year tenure at his family towing company.
Sisson passed away on Oct. 18, 2020, at age 70 after battling cancer himself.
The Goutsisson Family Foundation's passport consists of 36 businesses across Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody, and a portion of the proceeds from its $20 cost going to the BC Cancer Foundation — specifically towards the advancement of colon cancer research.
The passport offers discounts at each of the participating business that could be worth up to $300 in total.
The 2021 Tour of the Tri-Cities runs through until Sept. 6.
COVID-19 protocols are on a business-to-business basis and patrons are being asked to follow all health and safety guidelines in place.
