There are changes taking place at the school board office this week in Coquitlam.
School District 43 (SD43) has announced a temporary replacement for the position of secretary treasurer in time for a new year and upcoming budget discussions.
Randy Manhas, who is currently executive director of human resources, has been appointed to the job for the interim.
He replaces Mohammed Azim, the former secretary treasurer and chief financial officer, who has left the district according to the announcement.
Azim had been on SD43's district payroll since August 2021.
He was previously secretary treasurer for School District 48 (Sea to Sky) and before that secretary-treasurer and chief financial officer for the Wild Rose School Division in Alberta.
Manhas, who was previously a vice-principal at Riverside Secondary in Port Coquitlam, has been the head of human resources since March 2018.
In the announcement, SD43 board chair Michael Thomas wished Azim well for the future but there was no mention of his next posting.
"On behalf of the board, we would like to thank Mr. Azim for his service, and wish him well in his future endeavours," Thomas said.
As to further comments, the announcement said none would be forthcoming as "this is a personnel matter."
SD43 has several weeks of budget meetings planned, including with the Coquitlam Teachers Association on Jan. 24 and the District Parent Advisory Council on Jan. 31.
The next public school board meeting is Jan. 17.
