Taggers and other vandals continue to plague schools in School District 43, according to latest reports.

A weekly summary of vandalism from SD43 shows 10 schools were hit with graffiti tags since last week. The schools named are: Birchland, Irvine, Hazel Trembath, Miller Park and Leigh elementary schools as well as Banting, Citadel, Kwayhquitlum, Minnekhada and Pitt River middle schools.

As well windows were broken at Irvine, and Harbour View elementary schools; two windows were broken at International Education classrooms at Winslow Centre in Coquitlam, and one window was broken at Como Lake, Mallard and Citadel middle school.

The reported incidents took place between Feb. 23 and Feb. 28.

Typically windows and graffiti are repaired or painted over immediately, and the school district is working with Coquitlam RCMP to crack down on graffiti.

Cpl. Jamie Chung of the Coquitlam RCMP said police welcome the co-operation from SD43 to photograph graffiti and send it along for identification and tracking.

"From our perspective we're always interested in working with groups and individuals on this type of vandalism. One tag alone is insignificant to people but one tag often attracts many other tags. You just feel unsafe...it's sticking out like an eyesore," Chung said.

The investigation has led to two charges of mischief and possible charges against two other youth.
