The BC SPCA Tri-Cities Education and Adoption Centre is hoping the public can donate to its annual Valentine's Day fundraiser in which your name can appear at the bottom of a litter box.

What better way to show someone special how much you care about them by writing their name at the bottom of an animal's litter box.

That's one humourous option the Tri-Cities' SPCA is offering for Valentine's Day 2022 — but it's for a loving cause.

The regional education and adoption centre is hoping to raise $1,000 in providing urgent funds for abused, injured and homeless animals between now and Monday (Feb. 14).

With a minimum $6 donation, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra residents can pick the name of their choice to go in a litter.

The branch says animals will do their business on the names of friends, family members, significant others or even exes.

"In these crazy times we all need something to make us laugh a little," explains BC SPCA spokesperson Charly Jarrett in a release.

"It’s a lighthearted way to recognize someone in your life, and the money raised will provide a life-saving difference for animals in our community."

As the fundraiser is being conducted through Facebook, SPCA members will be posting photos of the litter boxes in the comments that follow.

All donations are set to go directly to the BC SPCA Tri-Cities Education and Adoption Centre.

As of this publication (Feb. 10), more than $800 has been raised.
