Port Moody's Sweet Talk Donuts is teaming up with developer Wesgroup Properties to donut one dollar from every Inlet District Lavender Tea doughnut sold at its shop from Nov. 15-Dec. 31 to the Port Moody Foundation.

A sweet tooth for doughnuts might help grow the next great chef.

From Nov. 15 to the end of the year, every Inlet District Lavender Tea doughnut sold at Sweet Talk Donuts in Port Moody will result in a $1 donation to the Port Moody Foundation by Vancouver-based developer Wesgroup Properties.

The foundation supports projects by local non-profit organizations like Growing Chefs, a cooking and gardening program that improves food literacy in Port Moody schools, or the Community Ventures Society that helps individuals and families with developmental disabilities.

It’s named for Wesgroup’s massive redevelopment project of Port Moody’s old Coronation Park neighbourhood that will eventually be home to about 5,500 new residents at the corner of Ioco Road and Barnet Highway.

“We are pleased to partner with Wesgroup Properties and Sweet Talk Donuts to raise funds to support important projects in Port Moody,” said Robert Simons, president of the Port Moody Foundation, in a news release.

“We believe in building complete communities and supporting the local organizations that make them great places to live,” added Wesgroup’s vice president of development Dean Johnson.

“The Port Moody Foundation plays a key role in strengthening the community and enhancing the quality of life in Port Moody.”

In fact, in 2023, the foundation awarded more than $197,000 in community and federal grants to a variety of projects.

Sweet Talk Donuts is located at 87 Moody St.

It’s an ancillary venture of founders Scott McTavish and Juan Perello to their Taps & Tacos restaurant right next door.
