Residents looking to get involved in Coquitlam sports this next calendar year are encouraged to put their skills to the test at a free event on Saturday (Aug. 21).
During the city's annual Sports Fair, nearly two dozen organizations are scheduled to set up informational and "try-it" booths in Town Centre Park for interested participants and volunteers of all ages.
In a release, parks, recreation and culture manager Kathleen Reinheimer says the event is part of Coquitlam's Spotlight on Sport initiative and is gathering associations to those "who want to try out new sports, find out what local sports groups have to offer, and discover fun ways to stay active."
The groups will be showcased at North Field #6 tomorrow between 1 and 3 p.m. — rain or shine.
The 21 locally-based sports organizations are set to include (in alphabetical order):
- BC Aquasonics
- Blind Sports BC
- Burke Mountain Archers
- City of Coquitlam Park Spark
