A man who the Coquitlam RCMP say is well-known to police has gone missing and investigators are now looking to the public for any tips to help locate him.
In a statement released Monday, Mounties said they are "very concerned" for Randy Joseph Chan's safety and asking anyone who has seen the 23-year-old since July 21 to call police.
"Chan has a significant police history and we understand that some people in his circle may be reluctant to talk to police, but we know there are people with inside information," said Coquitlam RCMP Cpl. Michael McLaughlin. "If you need to stay anonymous, or you have valuable information that could to a reward, we encourage you to call Crime Stoppers."
Chan, who is from Coquitlam, is described as a 23-year-old Asian man, who is 5'8'" with a heavy build, weighing approximately 200 lbs. He has short black hair, brown eyes, full sleeve tattoos on both arms and his left leg, with a tattoo of Buddha on his chest and "Chan" on his back.
"Police know that some people are trying to solve Chan's disappearance on their own," McLaughlin added. "But you could be adding to the cycle of violence. Please call police and let us handle it."
Anyone with information that could lead to Chan's whereabouts is asked to call the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and ask for the Major Crime Section. Those who wish to remain anonymous can do so by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or going to solvecrime.ca.
