Two young actors from Coquitlam are cast in a pantomime put on this and next month by the Royal Canadian Theatre Company.

Gabriel Drake appears as Curly in Knotted: Rapunzel’s Story, while Adira Dokin is in the ensemble for the show that runs at the Surrey Arts Centre from Dec. 20 to 29, 2024, and the Massey Theatre in New Westminster on Jan. 3 and 4, 2025.

Directed by Kerri Norris with choreography from Illya Mulji, both New Westminster residents, the production is accessible and includes ASL interpretation for Deaf or hard of hearing patrons.

The family-friendly story features such characters as Dame Frau Fringe, Buzz and Braids and follows Pixie Princess and "Boo" Demon Dreadful as they try to control Barber Academy.

“We’ve never done Rapunzel’s story before and are very excited to add our own Panto twist to this classic fairy tale,” Norris said in a news release.
