What do you like about living in Port Moody? What irks you?

About 8,000 randomly selected households in the city will soon be receiving an invitation to participate in Port Moody’s biennial community satisfaction survey.

Conducted by public opinion research company Ipsos, the survey gauges residents’ feelings about the city’s quality of life, local issues and satisfaction with civic services.

The previous survey, in 2022, for instance, found 94 per cent of respondents were satisfied or very satisfied with the level and quality of city services but 32 per cent said quality of life in the city had worsened.

Their reasons included traffic, growth and development as well as a higher cost of living. As well, social issues like affordable housing were mentioned as a growing concern.

No survey was conducted in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Results of the survey are used by council and staff to help guide strategic planning, budgeting and decision making.

Only one member of a household, 18 years of age or older, is permitted to participate in the survey and responses should be completed by Aug. 16, 2024.
