A multi-sport box in Port Moody that was under repairs for seven months reopened Saturday.
The upgrade to the 37-year-old Westhill Sports Box in the College Park neighbourhood cost $1.36 million - with funding split between the city and the provincial government.
The 1,560 sq. m. box, which now has a permanent roof, asphalt surface, LED lighting, player benches and viewing areas, is mostly used for lacrosse, ball hockey, basketball and soccer.
A city spokesperson said the only displaced sports group during the construction was the Port Moody Thunder Lacrosse Team; they used in the Eagle Ridge lacrosse box in Coquitlam in the interim.
