A popular Port Coquitlam indoor pool is closing later this month for maintenance that'll last three weeks.
The Hyde Creek Recreation Centre's leisure and lap pools will be closed for annual updates from Aug. 28 to Sept. 16, according to a news release.
However, the squash/racquetball courts, weight room and gymnasium are set to stay open during regular hours of operation.
What you need to know
The maintenance work is taking place to ensure that health and safety regulations are met. The work includes:
- Draining and repairing pool tanks,
- Repair of lap pool tiles and re-grouting some areas,
- Waterslide inspection and repair
- Preventative maintenance work on mechanical systems,
- Miscellaneous repairs and painting
For those looking to take a dip or cool off, the city's other recreation facilities are open during this period for the community to use:
Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC) Leisure Pool and Spray Park (2150 Wilson St.) will be open during regular hours.
As well, the following outdoor pools will be open:
- Centennial Pool (3050 Chester St.) open until Sept. 17
- May be extended depending on weather
- Robert Hope Pool and Wading Pool (2137 Lamprey Dr.), Sun Valley Wading Pool (3700 Hamilton St.) and Routley Wading Pool (1570 Western Dr.) all open until Sept. 4
Additionally, all spray parks will remain open through September, including:
- Castle Park
- Sun Valley Park
- Lions Park
- PCCC
- All open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily
