“Bring out your glass.”
That’s the clarion call to Port Coquitlam residents as the city launches curbside glass collection beginning in January 2025.
The program will allow residents to put non-refundable glass jars and bottles into a designated grey bin to be collected alongside other recyclables on scheduled collection days.

Port Coquitlam Mayor Brad West said, in a news release, adding glass containers to the city’s list of recyclable materials it collects marks “a significant improvement in waste management services.”
Coun. Darrell Penner, PoCo’s council designate for public works and transportation, said the new program will "simplify recycling for residents.”
The new grey bins for glass containers will be distributed to residents who already receive waste services from the city beginning Tuesday, Nov. 12.
The recycled glass is used to create new glass bottles, sandblasting material and construction aggregate.
Here are the guidelines to ensure your glass is recycled properly:
- Remove the lids from glass containers and empty them completely
- Rinse the containers and place the clean glass jars and bottles in the grey bin
- Put lids in the regular recycling cart
