Port Coquitlam is looking for a few great businesses — well, four to be exact.
Nominations for the city’s 10th Best Biz Awards are being accepted online until Feb. 2.
Four categories are being recognized:
- Small Business of the Year
- for businesses with less than five employees, including home-based businesses
- Business of the Year
- for businesses that have six or more employees and have been operation for more than three years
- New Business of the Year
- for businesses that have opened in the past three years
- BIA Downtown Business of the Year
- for businesses that have contributed to the vitality and community of Port Coquitlam’s downtown
All of the nominees will be eligible for the People’s Choice Award as well, with residents able to vote for their selection from Feb. 5 to 16.
Businesses of any size can be nominated, but they must operate in Port Coquitlam and have a valid business licence from the city.
Winners will be determined by a panel of representatives from the city and it business community.
They will be presented their awards at a special celebration to be held Feb. 27, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Mabbett Hall in the Port Coquitlam Community Centre.
Registration to attend the free event, that includes complimentary food, drinks and door prizes, can be done on the city’s Biz Awards website.
