A popular Port Moody destination for food and drink has closed.
But the proprietors of Browns Socialhouse in NewPort Village say it’s only temporary as they renovate.
"We can’t wait to reopen better than ever," the company said on their website.
A notice posted on the restaurant’s door said the shutdown will last six weeks.
Its Port Moody location is part of the Browns Restaurant Group that includes more than 60 establishments in Metro Vancouver, as well as Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario, along with Brown Crafthouse and Liberty Kitchen concept restaurants in Vancouver and Vancouver Island.
Earlier this week, the company closed its location in Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighbourhood where it had operated for 16 years.
A representative told Vancouver Is Awesome, a sister publication of the Tri-City News, the location couldn’t overcome challenges in the city’s real estate market, "so we are concentrating our growth elsewhere."
In 2018, Brown’s Port Moody location was forced to close for a week after a suspected outbreak of Norovirus that was eventually linked to illness in more than 90 people.
The restaurant also closed briefly in July 2020 after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
