Police seek witnesses into Monday's serious accident

Coquitlam RCMP are seeking witnesses into a serious accident that closed down the intersection of Guildford Way and Johnson Street in Coquitlam for over two hours Monday.

Coquitlam RCMP are seeking witnesses into a serious accident that closed down the intersection of Guildford Way and Johnson Street in Coquitlam for over two hours Monday.

Investigators are still looking to speak to more people who saw what happened at about 1 p.m.when a white and orange dump truck and a black Mitsubishi Outlander collided.

Moments before the collision, the dump truck was heading northbound on Johnson Street near Guildford Way at the same time the Outlander was turning left from southbound on Johnson Street on to eastbound Guildford Way. The force of the collision impact sent both vehicles up on the sidewalk at the northeast corner of the intersection.

The driver of the Outlander suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital, while the driver of the dump truck received minor bruises.

Alcohol, drugs and speed have been ruled out as contributing factors of the crash at this point.
