More than 2,000 students from elementary schools across School District 43 (SD43) tested their mettle on Wednesday and Thursday, April 17 and 18, at the annual Como Lake Relays in Coquitlam.
Competing in boys and girls races for Grades 4, 5 and 6, teams circumnavigated the 1.2-km walking path around the lake to the cheers of hundreds of their schoolmates, teachers and parents.
The races, which have been a spring tradition for 43 years, resumed in 2023 after a three-year hiatus because of COVID-19 public health restrictions.
The 2012 edition was also scrapped because of teachers' job action.
