Site B in Port Moody was transformed into an experimental art hub Wednesday night, Jan. 24, to celebrate ART's birthday.
PoMoArts (formerly the Port Moody Arts Centre) marked ART's Jan. 17 birthday — delayed a week due to the snow storm — with activities, music, dancing and, of course, cake.
Attendees got to sample the cakes and vote on their favourite.
The inaugural all-ages event drew some VIPs, including PoMoArts' board president Robert Simons; executive director Deanna Kayne; and Couns. Samantha Agtarap, Diana Dilworth, Amy Lubik and Callan Morrison.
Jan. 17, 1963, was when Fluxus artist Robert Filliou decreed that day was when "ART" was born when a dry sponge was dropped into a bucket of water.
