A 66-year-old man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a stabbing in Coquitlam last night (Feb. 10).
RCMP explain the man is in critical condition and they are now hoping the public can help with the investigation.
Around 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, Mounties were called to the area of 228 Schoolhouse St. — a strip mall north of Lougheed Highway — where a man was found suffering from stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital.
At the scene, police taped off a large section of the strip mall parking lot to collect and examine evidence.
The investigation is in its early stages, Coquitlam RCMP spokesperson S/Sgt. Kyle Simpson said in a statement.
The Tri-City News has reached out for further comment.
It's unclear if the incident was targeted, random or potentially linked to the Lower Mainland gang conflict.
In the meantime, police are seeking dashcam or video footage of the stabbing as well as eyewitnesses.
