Sam Elliott and Miles Burgin each scored a goal and an assist to lead the Surrey Eagles to a 3-2 win over the Coquitlam Express, Monday at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex.
The game was a special Family Day matinee that attracted more than 1,500 fans with free admission.
Coquitlam’s Andrej Kovacevic opened the scoring 8:09 into the first period with a nifty move to backhand the puck from between his legs and over the shoulder of Surrey goalie Aidan Fischer.

But the advantage lasted just over two minutes when the Eagles pulled even on a goal by Brandon Gill.
The teams exchanged goals 16 seconds apart before two minutes had been played in the second period and the game stayed 2-2 until Elliott scored the game winner 6:32 into the third period.
The loss was Coquitlam's fourth in five games between the two Coastal Conference rivals so far this season.
Express goalie Andrew Ness stopped 29 of the shots he faced while his teammates directed 30 shots at Fischer.
Coquitlam heads to Alberta for a pair of games this coming weekend. The team plays the Sherwood Park Crusaders on Friday, Feb. 21, and the Blackfalds Bulldogs the next night.
