A Belcarra resident is running for school trustee in Anmore/Belcarra - the first challenger for the villages' seat on the School District 43 board of education in several elections.
Celia Chiang, who has two daughters in SD43 schools, owns Port Moody Flowers, and is part of the Newport Village Action Committee promoting "Proudly Local."
In a press release, she said she wants to ensure better management of capital spending and strategic financial budgeting, and promote policies to equip students with better learning tools.
The city council and school board elections will be held on Nov. 15.
