The non-profit group that will run a permanent homeless shelter in Coquitlam wants more input from residents and business owners.

RainCity Housing and Support Society will host an open house next Wednesday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at city hall about the facility planned for 3030 Gordon Ave.

Participants can see the new architectural plans for the building and talk to Raincity staff and the design team, spokesperson Sean Spear said.

The gathering coincides with Homeless Action Week, Oct. 13 to 19, and "gives us another opportunity to engage the community and to keep the project in the public realm," said Spear, who is a member of the Tri Cities Homelessness Task Group.

The 60-bed emergency shelter and transitional housing facility is expected to open in early 2015.
