Not all the break-and-enters are connected, Port Moody police said, and a Coquitlam teen was arrested in the most recent incident.

Port Moody police (PMPD) are looking for this vehicle of interest connected to two break-ins on Dec. 23, 2023.

The holiday season may be a time for giving, but for thieves suspected of breaking into several Port Moody homes over the past few days, it’s been a time for taking.

Early this morning, Dec. 27, Port Moody police (PMPD) arrested a 19-year-old Coquitlam resident following a brief foot pursuit after they were called to a possible break-in at a home off Ioco Road.

The suspect is known to police and was in possession of multiple tools, PMPD spokesperson Const. Sam Zacharias said in a statement, adding that charges related to attempted break-in are being recommended.

Zacharias said the incident is not believed to be related to other break-ins around the city during the holiday period.

Last Saturday, Dec. 23, two unoccupied homes in the Ravine Drive area were forcibly entered sometime between 4:30 and 5 p.m. and valuables stolen.

PMPD are looking for a newer model Hyundai Elantra or Toyota Corolla that may have been involved, as well as CCTV and dash cam footage in the neighbourhood.

Two days later, on Christmas, Dec. 25, police responded to a similar break-and-enter at another home in the College Park neighbourhood. It’s also under investigation.

Zacharias said residents should remain vigilant.

"Please report any suspicious activity to us immediately," he added.

Anyone with more information about the break-ins is asked to call PMPD at 604-461-3456, anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or go online to www.solvecrime.ca.
