It's arguably one of the most oddly satisfying activities known to humankind.
Sending an unwanted piece of paper through the shredder and letting all your worries just float away.
The Port Coquitlam Community Foundation (PCCF) is set to provide local and regional residents with yet another opportunity to eliminate potential fraud by hosting a free shredding event this weekend.
With the change in seasons, some people may begin spring cleaning routines and while doing so, find some old and unwanted documents in a dusty old storage room.
By donation only, the foundation will take your box or bag of personal papers and shred them as a safe alternative rather than tossing them away.
This includes taxation forms, banking statements, credit card bills and any other older notes.
And the best part is, all proceeds are set to contribute to programs and grants operated by the PCCF that ultimately go back into the community.
"PoCo Foundation has granted over $1,150,000 in grants and bursaries to individuals and organizations in Port Coquitlam since our beginnings a mere 10 years ago," the organization said in a social media post.
"Our impact in our community is due to the support of individuals and businesses"
The PCCF says donations of $20 or more may also allow interested participants to claim a tax receipt.
The community shred day is scheduled for Saturday (April 2) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A shredding station will be set up in the parking lot of Canadian Tire at Fremont Village (2125 Hawkins St.).
The PCCF adds COVID-19 health protocols will be followed to ensure safety for everyone involved during the four-hour period.
