KMS Tools is hosting a series of by-donation lunches this week, and equipment will be shipped to developing or war-torn countries.

Young men pose with older tools from Coquitlam's KMS, thanks to local residents that donated their old or unused equipment.

Is there a toolbox in your garage full of equipment you don't use anymore?

A Coquitlam charity is hoping you can donate them to its cause as they could help rebuild or improve communities around the world.

This week, KMS Tools and Equipment is hosting free lunches at its business (110 Woolridge St.), which is set to include smokies and coffee.

Instead of financial donations from the public, it's charity, Tools for the World, is encouraging interested patrons to consider donating old or unused tools.

As the holidays are the season of giving, KMS says these tools are set to bring hope and joy to communities in developing or war-torn countries.

This includes building refugee centres in Ukraine and Poland, as well as training facilities in African nations like Burundi, Ghana and Zimbabwe.

"To combat the price of containers, KMS Tools has dedicated 110 per cent of the proceeds from these sales go towards helping tools reach the countries that need them most," the company said in a social media post.

"Dozens of pallets of your good used tools give new hope overseas every year."

Those wishing to contribute — and grab a bite — are encouraged to visit KMS Tools and Equipment in Coquitlam tomorrow (Dec. 15), Friday (Dec. 16) and Saturday (Dec. 17).

Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
