Spring has already sprung in Port Moody.
However, for one night this weekend, two local businesses are bringing back the wintery landscape for a fundraising event for kids looking to get into organized sports.
The Lift Ski and Board is co-hosting it's first Apres Ski Party at BRAVE Brewing on Saturday (March 25) as a way to connect with local residents and outdoor enthusiasts while collecting money for KidSport Tri-Cities.
The theme "Apres" refers to enjoying food and drink with friends after a recreational activity, commonly used near the slopes by skiers and snowboarders alike.
The Lift co-founder Nicole Wilson said bringing people together for a charitable cause is a good reason to host such a party.
"Providing equitable access for kids to be able to participate in sport is near and dear to the hearts of the owners of The Lift," she told the Tri-City News, noting the business has set a modest fundraising goal of $1,500.
"As children, they would have been able to enjoy the beauty of sport had they had the financial support provided by an organization like KidSport."
The Apres Ski Party is also set to include a 50/50 draw with all proceeds going to KidSport Tri-Cities.
Wilson said the night will feature a live DJ, games, prizes — including one for best costume — and charcuterie boards served on skis.
Interested participants are encouraged to wear funky ski outfits, such as neon jackets and oversized googles.
The fundraiser is set for Saturday, 6 p.m. to midnight at BRAVE Brewing (2617 Murray St.) — located along Port Moody's famous Brewers Row.
Guests must be 19 years or older to attend the Apres Ski Party.
Tickets are $25 each, plus taxes, with $5 from every one sold earmarked for KidSport Tri-Cities.
