Port Moody is looking for a few good people.
The city is accepting nominations for its annual civic awards, which will be presented in January 2025.
According to a news release, the awards recognize the people, organizations and businesses that help make Port Moody a “better place.”
Mayor Meghan Lahti said the awards are an affirmation of those “who create positive change and contribute in ways that improve the lives of others and the city as a whole.”
The six categories to be awarded are:
- Peter Hulbert Accessibility Award honours an individual or group that promotes accessibility or has contributed to the removal of barriers with accessibility needs
- Arts Award goes to an individual, organization or business that contributes to the artistic and cultural life of Port Moody
- Climate Action Award recognizes individuals, community groups, schools, organizations and businesses that advance the goals of the city’s climate action plan

- Heritage Award goes to the individual, organization or business that promotes heritage conservation in Port Moody
- Sports Award is presented to the adult who’s furthered the growth, reputation and character of sports in the community through their administrative efforts, coaching, officiating or participation. A youth sports award will be implemented next year, with nominations accepted between January and April, 2025.
Nominations for the awards can be submitted until Sept. 20, either online or through an application form available at city hall (100 Newport Dr.) or the recreation centre (300 Ioco Rd.).
The awards are presented every two years.
