RCMP confirms with the Tri-City News the local detachment received calls of shots fired along Austin Avenue on Saturday (July 24) and an investigation is ongoing.
Const. Deanna Law says no injuries were reported.
She adds police are investigating "every avenue" and are still collecting evidence as of this publication (July 27), but no other update is being provided.
According to witnesses, roughly one dozen police vehicles were seen near McDonald's west of Gatensbury Street as officers appeared to have taped up a portion of the parking lot.
One person says they saw yellow caution tape across the parking lot of several businesses on the south side of Austin Avenue beyond Gatensbury and through to Ridgeway Street north of the restaurant.
One person tells the Tri-City News a vehicle was allegedly dumped at the McDonalds after a possible shooting, but police have yet to confirm any details.
