As the song goes, it takes two to make a thing go right.
In the case of Chee Yee Fong, he's looking to invest in his health and the right teacher to prep him for the dance floor after winning $1 million this summer playing Lotto Max.
The Port Coquitlam man was one of 42 Maxmillion winners the night of June 15, 2021, when Lotto Max had a grand prize draw of $70 million up for grabs.
B.C.'s newest millionaire says his dreams of mastering his footwork are set to be fulfilled thanks to his earnings.
"This win means that I will be able to get more tango lessons and a good instructor," Fong said in a BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) release today (Nov. 4)
"I am… going to invest in my health."
Fong also plans to invest in retirement, a new house and a European cruise with the big payday.
He purchased the $1 million Lotto Max ticket at Wayne's Grocery in Vancouver and recalls the moment he decided to check his numbers at a gas station close to home.
"I remembered that I had two tickets in my wallet that I hadn’t checked yet," he said, noting he was out on one of his daily neighbourhood walks in Port Coquitlam.
"I went into the gas station…the retailer checked the ticket and told me that I had won a lot of money. [...] When I knew how much I had won, I couldn’t sleep and I wanted to cry."
Fong explained he first told his daughter about the money, who shared his elation about the lotto win.
His winning numbers were 2, 3, 6, 18, 25, 31 and 43.
BCLC says provincial residents have won more than $244 million in 2021 thus far while playing Lotto Max.
