While Thrift-Opolis in Port Coquitlam may not have much in the way of merchandise that is suitable for the youth of the Tri-Cities, the owners Hal Merritt and Vanda Cooper are working to ensure that their new store will provide opportunities for kids between the ages of 5 and 18 to play.
Thrift-Opolis, offering a unique range of antiques, collectibles, and new and used goods, is opening its doors Wednesday, March 16 and launching its fundraising efforts for KidSport.
KidSport helps provide children in financial need between the ages of five and 18 access to sport opportunities and experiences in both team and individual sports "So All Kids Can Play." Thrift-Opolis is excited to be providing this organization with a new source of much-needed financing with the public's help. The owners are committed to taking your unwanted household items and donating cash to KidSport, the amount donated being based upon the value of the dropped off items.
Long time Tri-Cities residents, Merritt and Cooper are happy to be able to combine their love of things "not new" with such a worthwhile cause such as KidSport, and they look forward to working with their customers and the people from KidSport to ensure all kids have the opportunity to participate.
Donations for KidSport can be dropped off at Thrift-Opolis, located at 2579 Lougheed Hwy. in Port Coquitlam. Individuals are asked to phone first to notify the staff they are coming. Also, housecalls may be made for larger loads. You can call the store directly at 604-942-7101 and ask for Hal. You can also check out their website at www.thriftopolis.ca, or e-mail them at [email protected] for more information.
