Administrators at several Tri-City schools are changing jobs this summer after multiple retirements, secondments and other personnel changes.
The announcements come just weeks after School District 43 (Coquitlam) passed a balanced budget with cuts to supplies and teacher jobs.
As well, School District 43 is looking to fill many jobs, in particular teachers on call, clerical positions, youth workers, education assistants, noon hour supervisors, cooks and caretakers for fall with job information on its website.
In the principals' office, one of the more notable developments is the move of Brian Leonard, currently principal of Pinetree Way Elementary in Coquitlam, who will be taking up the post of president of the BC Principals and Vice Principals Association.
In other changes, two Port Coquitlam school principals are retiring: Heather Birnie of Cedar Drive Elementary and Laurie Birnie of Kilmer Elementary.
As well, long-time vice-principal for International Education Jean Wong is retiring.
According to an announcement from School District 43 (SD43), more than 20 schools will have new principals or vice-principals beginning July 1.
